Dr. Michael Ewers
I am an assistant professor of geography in the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Geographical Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. My research centers on three areas: 1) migration, 2) worker welfare and inequality, and 3) sustainable economic development. At UNC Charlotte, I have also begun exploring community-engaged research through the Climate Inequality CLT Atlas, a project funded by the Gambrell Fellowship from the UNC Charlotte Urban Institute. This initiative maps climate vulnerability, economic injustice, and community resilience across Charlotte, engaging local communities and stakeholders through and partnerships with the Charlotte Action Research Project (CHARP) and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library. I also contribute to multiple campus community-engaged research initiatives, including the Center for Community Heritage and the Arts (CHArt) and the Art and Science Initiative (ArtXSci).
