Dr. Michelle Eichinger is Director of Research and Data Science for Orbis Inc, a GIS solutions company for the agriculture and natural resources industries and Principal/Founder for Planning4Health Solutions, a consulting firm working with local governments and nonprofit in addressing food systems, climate resiliency planning and public health strategies. With over 20 years of experience in the public and private sector, Michelle has a diverse, interdisciplinary background and combines her passion and experience in public health, climate change, environmental sustainability, food systems, and public policy. Her niche is in quantitative methods and urban data science, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and machine learning applications. She aims to apply her work toward equitable people-based and place-based policies, solutions and interventions.


Michelle completed her postdoc at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in the Netherlands where examined the relationship climate change has on urban food systems in African cities and their impact on global food supply chain. In addition, Michelle has been a program administrator at the Delaware Division of Public Health and public health advisor/policy analyst at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). With a dual discipline in public health and urban planning, she has worked with planning and public health agencies to develop strategies in supporting healthy behaviors and climate resiliency.


Dr. Eichinger has a Master of Science in Health Promotion and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Delaware and a Ph.D. in Planning, Design and the Built Environment from Clemson University.
