Enderly Park Community Garden Dedication and Neighborhood Clean-up
On April 28th the Enderly Park Neighborhood unveiled its new Community Garden Space at the Bette Rae Thomas Recreation Center. The Community Garden is in a unique open air, 4 walled area that maximizes available space at the recreation center. The Enderly Park Neighborhood Association, the Charlotte Action Research Project (CHARP), Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) and the Bette Rae Thomas Center staff have all been instrumental in getting the garden off the ground. UNCC students from the Social Inequality and Planning class were also extremely knowledgeable and creative in finding solutions for the project. The Enderly Park Community Garden was funded by the Foundation for the Carolinas Front Porch Grant.
Enderly Park also participated in the Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup. On April 28th volunteers from the Enderly Park Neighborhood, the Charlotte Action Research Projects (CHARP) and Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) participated in the nation’s largest annual community improvement program. Volunteers worked together to clean up several areas in the Enderly Park Community that needed improvements. The project was successful in bringing community members together and promoting a clean environment for residents.
